Sleep Like a Baby: Your Ticket to Dreamland

At Bubba & Me, we understand how crucial sleep is for both you and your little one. That's why we've curated our favourite products that will have your little bubba settled in no time! Visit our Sleep Edit for our favourite products for bedtime.

Our resident midwife, The Holistic Midwife, has also put together her quick and easy top tips for bedtime for bubbas.

Establish a consistent bedtime routine: Babies thrive on routine, so creating a consistent bedtime routine can work wonders. Stick to a set sequence of activities that signal to your baby that it's time to wind down. This could include a warm bath, gentle massage, calming lullabies, and a cozy bedtime story. Consistency is key!

Create a sleep-friendly environment: Transform the nursery into a sleep sanctuary by ensuring the room is cool, dark, and quiet. Consider using blackout curtains, a white noise machine, or a gentle lullaby to mask any outside disturbances. Babies love a soothing environment for their slumber.

Introduce a comfort object: Around 6 to 8 months old, you can introduce a comfort object to your baby's sleep routine. This can be a soft blanket, a small stuffed animal, or a special toy that provides comfort and security. Just make sure it's safe and approved for their age.

Follow the "Eat-Play-Sleep" cycle: To avoid creating a sleep association with feeding, try implementing the "Eat-Play-Sleep" cycle. Feed your baby when they wake up, engage in playtime and activities afterward, and then put them down for a nap or bedtime. This helps break the dependency on feeding for sleep.

Watch for sleep cues: Babies give off subtle signs when they're sleepy. Look out for yawning, rubbing their eyes, or becoming less engaged with their surroundings. When you catch those cues, it's the perfect time to start the bedtime routine and transition them into sleep mode.

Practice safe sleep: Safety is paramount when it comes to your baby's sleep. Always place your baby to sleep on their back in a crib or bassinet, with no loose bedding, toys, or pillows. Keep the sleep area clear of any potential hazards to create a safe and peaceful sleep environment.

Remember, every baby is different, and finding what works for yours might involve a little trial and error. Be patient, trust your instincts, and remember that you're doing an amazing job. A little guidance, coupled with lots of love, will help your baby sleep soundly and you feel more rested, too.
